Emerald Vale will be opening on Wednesday, April 17th. We will be on spring rates: 9 holes walking for $9, 9 holes with a cart for $15: 18 holes walking for $15 and 18 holes with a cart for $25. Tee times will start at 9:00. For the next few days we will be open depending on the weather, so please call if the weather is iffy. Hope to see you soon!

Emerald Vale has become a member of the Northern Michigan Golf Network!! If you are a part of our Membership (Stockholder or Associate), you can play at any of the 16 Northern Michigan courses for greatly reduced fees. Many of our outings are open to the public and raise money for local causes. BIG HITTERS CAN CARRY THE WASTE AREA BUT “BEWARE”.

THIS 3 SHOT PAR 5 BOASTS A LARGE LANDING AREA IF THE PLAYER STAYS SHORT OF THE FAIRWAY BUNKERS GUARDING THE FAIRWAY. A PROPER LAY UP TO THE RIGHT CENTER OF THE FAIRWAY ALLOWS THE PLAYER A GOOD CHANCE AT SELECTING THE PROPER CLUB NEEDED FOR THIS 4 CLUB DEEP GREEN. PAR IS A GOOD SCORE HERE.POINTER: STAY SHORT OF FAIRWAY BUNKERS ON TEE-SHOT. DON’T GET GREEDY. RIGHT SIDE OF GREEN IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUTT. STAY LEFT. THE GREEN IS AS DEEP AS THE GRAND CANYON SO PICK THE RIGHT CLUB FOR YOUR APPROACH.

A SHORT PAR 4 THE BEST TEE SHOT IS TO FAVOR THE LEFT CENTER OF THE FAIRWAY. A WASTE BUNKER GUARDS THE RIGHT SIDE. CLUB SELECTION IS AT A PREMIUM. THIS SMALL GREEN IS ONLY 11/2 CLUBS DEEP AND HAS TREES GUARDING THE LEFT SIDE AND A GREEN SIDE BUNKER WRAPPED AROUND THE RIGHT SIDE. THE GREEN IS NO PICNIC EITHER. SHORT DOES NOT MEAN EASY.

POINTER: AVOID THE WOODPECKERS HOUSE IN THE WASTE AREA ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FAIRWAY ON YOUR TEE-SHOT. MISSING THIS GREEN WILL FOLLOW WITH A IMPOSSIBLE CHIP OR PITCH. HIT TO THE CENTER OF THE GREEN.

THE HARDEST HOLE ON THE FRONT 9 THIS PAR 4 DOGLEG LEFT REQUIRES A TEE-SHOT TO THE RIGHT CENTER OF THE FAIRWAY. A LONG TEE-SHOT IS REQUIRED TO SEE THIS UNDULATING TWO TIER GREEN.

POINTER: A TEE-SHOT TO THE LEFT SIDE WILL GREATLY HINDER ALL PLAYERS. “STAY RIGHT” THE AVERAGE PLAYER SHOULD HIT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE GREEN AND HOPE FOR A TWO PUTT. THE PLAYER WHO DOES SHOOT DIRECTLY AT THE PIN BEWARE OF THE BUNKERS GUARDING THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE GREEN AND BE CAREFUL TO PICK THE RIGHT CLUB, IT COULD VARY UP TO 3 CLUBS FROM FRONT TO BACK.

A MEDIUM LENGTH PAR 3 THIS HOLE PRESENTS A GOLIATH SIZE GREEN WITH THE RIGHT HALF OF THE GREEN HIDDEN FROM THE EYE. MOST PLAYERS SHOULD AIM FOR THE MIDDLE OF THE GREEN AND FOCUS ON SHARPENING YOUR PUTTING SKILLS.

POINTER: STAY AWAY FROM THE BUNKER ON THE RIGHT. THE BUNKER SHOULD NOT COME INTO PLAY FOR MOST BECAUSE IT IS CONSIDERABLY SHORT OF THE GREEN. TAKE DEAD AIM FOR THE MIDDLE OF THE GREEN AND HOPE FOR A 2 PUTT.

THIS DOWNHILL MEDIUM LENGTH PAR 4 HAS A GENEROUS LANDING AREA FOR THE TEE SHOT WITH A BUNKER ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND A WASTE AREA THAT IS LATERAL TO THE RIGHT TO CATCH OFF LINE SHOTS. TEE-SHOT SHOULD BE SLIGHTLY RIGHT OF CENTER TO PREPARE FOR THE APPROACH INTO A VERY SMALL UNDULATED GREEN SURROUNDED BY BUNKERS. THE GREEN IS A 12 ON A SCALE OF 10 ON DIFFICULTY.

POINTER: TEE-SHOT MUST BE RIGHT CENTER SO AS TO AVOID THE BUNKER ON THE RIGHT AND THE HAZARD ON THE LEFT. TO SAY THE GREEN IS TREACHEROUS IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. HIT YOUR APPROACH SHOT WITH THE IDEA OF STAYING SHORT OF THE PIN. THIS WILL LEAVE YOU WITH AN UPHILL PUTT, AND A CHANCE FOR A 1 OR 2 PUTT GREEN. IF YOUR SECOND SHOT DOES NOT FIND THE GREEN BE PREPARED FOR QUITE THE INTERESTING PITCH OR CHIP SHOT.
